If you could work with any kind of animal, what would it be???
OR what do you think is the most "magical" animal and why? Personally, I would put anything that flies as the most magical (not very original, I know), just because it's such an amazing feat in itself If I could work with anything, It would probably be dolphins in some capacity. They're just so darn smart... Evan

I would use attractive, young, human females, they seem to provide the best misdirection.

There is a reason why rabbits have become the magician's trademark. They are quiet, cute, small and practical. As far as most impressive, I would have to say an elephant.

I love my duck! The audience doesn't expect it and he gets a great reaction. They are dirty animals though. Nothing that taking good care of them won't cure. I used a lion cub in high school at a big show I did and she really didn't like the stage lights. She also was eyeing my duck to much! I will stick with my duck & rabbit!

My choice is a rabbit. Like Ken said, it may not be the most impressive animal production, but many people expect magicians to have a bunny.

Lucy and I prefer working with horses. Early on, we transformed me to a horse and the horse to __________ that fit the event. The Horse and I did a walk around (Running is more like it!) and appeared at the back of the audience.
Now Lucy works with "live unicorns" (white horses with blue eyes). (Don't get into a sub trunk with one!) Lucy works with geese, goats and rabbits too. I actually like my doves and rabbit. I have used live hamsters in the Don Allan Comedy Egg Can in school shows with great results. We had one that would just hang over the top and look around but not get out. My uncle was a rodeo producer, so show biz with animals was just another day at the office. (Rodeo bulls are not as easy as tigers!) Animals make great stage buddies but today lodging and travel make it difficult to work on the road. You need the audience to come to you like in a theme park. Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |

I used to do rabbits, dwarf bunnies worked great for kid shows but now I have 5 tropical parrots and they draw a crowd like a magnet plus they never miss...not as bad to clean up after like rabbits or doves or even ducks.....
I guess the question is, were you just wondering or were you looking to do a specific act with an animal to be named in the future??? As you can see, Merlin loves the attention... Bill |

I like my snakes, hissing cockroaches, giant millipedes, scorpions, and tarantulas. All of which are in my show at the moment. The rarely poop, although the roaches and millipedes do have little mites on them - but they only live on them - not me.
I had rabbits for a while and never, ever used them after seeing them poop and pee all over the place - my props were to expensive to worry about that! I just had them as pets until a little old lady had to have her rabbit put to sleep due to cancer and she adopted our two - they are now spoiled rotten! Anyway - snakes are my favorite. |

I have a bearded dragon that I can not wait to put in the show. He is a full grown lizard 17" long. Does not bite, scratch or try to get away and does not mind being handled. The problem is I am still figuring the best way to "produce" him. Second choice is a rabbit to nurture my traditional side.
