I'm not a "real worker" by any stretch of the imagination, and I'm not really a card man. That being said, I am accumulating a fair amount of tricks which rely on one or a couple gaffed cards in a deck to work. These tend to be easy to perform, and allow me to concentrate on performance rather than mechanics. (I do, though, know a couple of mechanically-easy "real" card routines.)
This is great - as long as you walk into a situation with multiple decks already set up! But is there any decent and easy way to use maybe one or two decks at most, and switch gaffs into the deck as needed, and back out when done? Is there a "gaff management" system? Ed |

Some options:
-Have the gaffs in the deck to start. Use false shuffles/cuts to keep them on top/bottom. Routine your effects so that you can go from one effect to another and can still get to your gaffs when you need to. This is IMO the most effective way to use gaffs in a routine. -For a deck in use, palming in is still my preferred method. Allow the spec to shuffle which puts all the attention on them and you can easily reach into a pocket (or your lap if sitting). -Deck switch. Put the deck into your pocket. Do a non-card effect. Pull the new deck back out (acting as though it were the same deck). Voila. -For ditching gaffs at the end of your effect(s) palming if standing or lapping if sitting are very effective means of disposing of gaffs. Any combination of these should work. For example, start with a gaffed deck. Do your routine. Deck switch to an ungaffed deck and you're clean to do any other non-gaffed effect.

Since this question would be included in 'gaff managment' what is a good card wallet to buy that will keep the cards flat, and no wear to weather and moisture?

Sometimes I will leave a needed gaff in the card box. The trick just before requires only part of the deck, so I put the other cards back in the box for "safe keeping". When I remove them from the box to continue, the gaff is there, ready to be controlled wherever I need it.
This only works in one certain type of situation of course, with just the right trick immediately before the gaff trick, but properly used can be a natural appearing way to ring in a gaff.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".
