I need a form of a cut or shuffle, which to the laymen will make it seem that the deck is being cut and/or shuffled, but stacked order of the top 20 cards should me retained.
Any ideas?

I use the false in-the-hands waterfall shuffle. I think it is the best false shuffle out there, and it retains the entire deck. There is a Luke Jermay download available at Penguinmagic.com.

Oh, c'mon! Undercut no more than half the deck and do an injog shuffle. HL.

Off the top of my head...
the Zarrow shuffle is a false tabled riffle shuffle the Heinstein Shuffle is a false in-the-hands riffle shuffle with a bridge and a spring the Overhand False shuffle from Expert Card Technique the Up The Ladder cut looks like a series of running cuts the Push Through Shuffle from Vernon's Triumph Dan Garrett's Underhanded Overhand Shuffle is easy and looks great the False Haymow is also easy to do and looks great. As for cuts, there are hundreds of false cuts available, depending on how fancy you want it to be.

Top 20 Cards, eh? Piece of cake. Here's what you do.
First, get a crimp on the bottom card. Using an overhand shuffle, run 10 cards singly and then toss the rest of the deck on top. Now, execute an on-the-thigh Shank Shuffle, making sure that you don't cut the cards in the process. Now, run 15 more cards. Turn the deck face-up. Run ten cards and then throw the rest on top. Spread the cards face-up to show that they're all mixed, but secure a break under the top 5 face-up cards. Square up, and then lift those five cards and then weave them into the middle (make sure they're weaved in at least 10 cards from the top and bottom). Turn the deck face-down. Strip out a small portion of cards from the center and shuffle off onto the top, injogging the first card as you do. Then, using that injog, strip out another small portion of cards from below the jogged card (at least 10, but don't dip into the bottom 10) and toss them on top. Execute your favorite false flourish Z-cut. Finally, locate the crimped card at the bottom, undercut all the cards below it, and run them off singly. I'm pretty sure that should work. If I left out a step, hopefully somebody will correct me. (Alternately, read what Harry Lorayne wrote, or purchase Royal Road to Card Magic.)

"The Complete Works of Derek Dingle" offers a "Three Zarrow Shuffle Sequence" that appears to completely mix the deck, but retains the full deck order.

Hm, I don't see why anyone would bother with something other (and more complicated) then simple everhand shuffle retaining the top stock.

I agree that the simpler, the better. O/H injog shuffle.
That being said , can anyone refer me two the book and/or video where the Heinstein false riffle shuffle is detailed. Thanks. EDIT: Sorry, found it when searching through some older posts. My initial look didn't turn it up. Thanks. |

Harry and Picard, I couldn't agree more.
Why are people suggesting zarrows, heinsteins, etc....? two words: Jog Shuffle. This should be the first thing you learn when you start doing card tricks. The principle is the same whether you need to preserve a 4 card slug, or a twenty card slug... |
