I noticed that sometimes that when I make balloon animals the balloons tend to squeak louder and its more annoying to listen to. Can you guys tell me what casues this noise and how I can reduce it. Is this sort of the same as when you walk on the floor after you steped on water or rain and it squeaks when you walk?

The squeaking is a mix of moisture and latex rubbing up against themselves and each other. The only real advice I can give is to pull on the balloons a little and try rolling them through the twists and not just cramming and twisting.

Sometimes the squeaking is a good thing. If you're drawing a crowd, the best way to get kids to notice you (and drag mom, dad, grandma and grandpa over with 'em!) is for them to hear the squeaking.

2 things:
1) pull the sections apart as you twist. 2) try adding some talcum powder lightly over the balloons.

[/quote] If your hands tend to be on the damp-side .... keep a doubled sock (clean) with talcum powder in your balloon kit, knot the end. Kind of like what weight lifters use in the gym. When you start squeaking just pick up the sock slight squeeze and rub your hands together. Little cleaner ... also if your blowing up massive amount of round balloons this is a must or you will tear up your cuticles.

Ralph Dewey related that that the natural oils in your skin help reduce squeaking. So he advised not to wash your hands before twisting, but he did advise to wash them after using the restroom.
