Hi There,
I have had a request to perform an illusion (Or Two) in a large auditorium next December and am not sure where to start. I would appreciate your thoughts on what would be a good "first illusion" to perform and why? And some details on places you can purchase illusions? Thanks for your help, Joel |

Joel,
I still believe more information is required as to answer your question properly. These questions include Your Budget Your audience (Age, #'s) How many assistants (if any) you have to work with. what kind of thing you do already. Thanks Daniel |

Hi Joel,
As I can see from your awards you are living in Australia. You may want to ask some of the chaps down there for used ones, and/or the name of a builder. Due to the high shipping costs of any bulky illusion, you may want to consider building one or two down there. I am sure there must be someone who builds. I believe Oz is not working (in business ) for the present time. You may want to look also to J.C. Sum for both illusion plans and/or equipment. I believe he is in Singapore. Probably a lot cheaper to transport from there. (Maybe even Hawaii??) Two good illusions for center ring are of course the Sub Trunk, and the Taboret Vanish (off the table, like the Abbotts one) or off of a Drum Illusion base. Actually the Girl in Drum, or Stove Illusion would work also. The Stove Illusion production could give a lot of opportunity for your "charming" sense of humour to shine through. Then the girl produced could be used in the Sub Trunk. All these illusions use one assistant, but you can also use a couple of others for prop placement/movement etc. Blair P.S. Just remember legs and casters have to be HEAVY duty for ring useage. P.P.S. Both Abbotts and Osborne sell the illusion plans for these illusions.

Blair has some good suggestions there.
I'm not that advanced in illusion, but I heard about good things for J C Sum's new illusion books. That may be a consideration for you. From what you said, sounds like a Sub-trunk/ 3-Inch Hole may be what you're looking for. |

I would check out the illusions at Creative Magic http://www.creativemagic.net
They pack small, are easy to carry, play huge and don't cost a fortune. Perfect for a magician who wants to perform just a few illusions once in a while. |

Joel,
After taking a look at your webpage I would agree with you looking at creative magic. It seems like it would be your kind of thing |

Joel, I have a question from your website - what is "spruiking and compare work"?
Things are more like they are today than they've ever been before...

If you want to add one that's easy to build try Osborne's Bride of the Blades. It was my first build before I could afford larger ones and I still use it as it has had super reactions, plus you can do it surrounded and is perfect for 2 people.
