Hi all,
I decided I am going to build my first stage illusion. Which one do you recommend. Since this is my first, I would like one that is fairly easy to build. Thanks, Matt |

A subtrunk or shadow box are pretty basic.

A vanishing elephant flip over box. Just kidding. Actually Bryan is right with the sub trunk or shadow box but you also have to figure what you want to do in your show instead of looking for whats easiest to build.

Sub-trunk is a good one to build. Also, if you're going to do shows in a theatre with good lighting, build a BA table. They work miracles.

I am also wanting to build my first stage illusion. For the sub trunk and shadow box, what plans do people normal suggest for a beginner? Also, what would you say are the advantages between the top and back t**ps? I am also leaning toward the sub trunk just because of the material you have to work with on the sides with a shadow box. What do people normally use for that material and is it difficult to work with?
Magicnator, when you say build a BA table, what exactly do you mean? Like what height or size. I am guessing you just mean a table with a bl*** cl*** hanging from the b**k?

If you build a sub trunk.. definatly the top T**P.
One thing you should think about when building first illusion is where you're going to put it in your show.. and what do you need to do before and after. It might be better to build an illusion that your assistant or you get in AND out of at the start of the routine. If you build an appearance.. do you open the show with it.. and then go onto perform a half hour of birthday magic? That's kind of a letdown. Or do you do your whole show.. and then produce your assistant as a finale, leaving her in the base of the prop for the whold first part of your show? I'd choose a sword box.. temple of Beneres or sub trunk or something that is an effect unto itself. |

Bride of the Blades by Paul Osborne is easy and very effective.

I agree if you use a BA table.. Get the right BA! it makes a huge difference! But watch your Sight lines..
I like using a Vstyle design. it helps.. and don't go too low.. as I have seen girls bash up there knees trying to go down. (wow that didn't sound good! LOL ... never mind! )
