A 85 years old friend of mine has a folding half dollar with a quarter in the middle of the back side.
He wanted to know if I knew what trick it was used for and the only thing I could fiqure out was changing a quarter to a half dollar. Wondering if anyone else has seen a half dollar like this and what trick it was used for? |

Joe Berg used to sell a Nickle to Half that was built the same way. I'd say this is a variant, and yes, it's used to turn a quarter (in this case) visibly into a half.

That is what my guess was.

We make and sell "Nickel to Half", it's a old trick where you can show a small coin and magically to turn it for a half dollar.

I never seen one of these coins its a folding half with a quarter in a cut out pocket in the back so when you fold all that shows of the half is a small center piece sticking up at the top and bottom which I guess you cover with your fingers.
