That fire spiker is not cheap..and is only built by authorized builders.

Question. Who technically owns the rights to a fire spiker and under what context? Anyone know?

If you don't mind doing it without fire you could build it with these plans http://hamiltonholtinc.stores.yahoo.net/spiker.html

Chris, from what I remember of previous discusions here on the Café, seemed like Mark Kalin owned the rights to the spiker, and the 2nd girl production part was Hans Klok's. I always thought the idea of putting spikes in a box was much older... And can someone claim to own a concept of "how many girls are produced" at the end af the trick? Not trying to be sarcastik but it doesn't make too much sense to me?

Daniel Summers' Foul Play is an extremely deceptive spiker. Its not cheap but then again, Dan's stuff is very well built, its got a small footprint and its refreshingly different. And again, its deceptive.

Chris, I believe the Spiker derives form the "spikes from both sides" unit Alan Wakeling designed for Mark Wilson, and which is detailed in his book.
So I believe you are only discussing design features here, and presentations. ie. the Kalin style, and/or the 2 girl production. Foul Play has a somewhat different hiding configuration. Blair

The one on magic auction, spear 3000, can only hold one girl, just so you know.

Sam Powers does a similar effect with light tubes, but the illusion stands vertical. The cabaret venue I consult for has limited space backstage, but is interested in doing the "Spiker". Anyone know of a vertical version, or something similar?
