Most of the positions I apply for are manager jobs in supply/logistics but lately I've hit anything that I might remotely be able to do.
Lots of larger companies require at least two or three interviews for a managerial position and often a test or two to make sure you can add. I failed one of those much to my shock and found out my vision had gone so bad that I misread the numbers, I now have new glasses. Now here is a twist, I just got a call from a guy who is interested in me for a position I have zero experience in but he can't find anyone else who qualifies so he figured he'd see if someone who had a real job might work out. We'll see.... |

If you have a friend that works in HR, have them give your resume a look. Though, I'm not currently looking for a job, I update my resume often and always send it to HR friends of mine to make sure it is still in a 'vogue' (so to speak) format.

My resume was reviewed by HR people and a pro resume person and they thought it was great....for Silicon Valley. Now I'm in Reno and it is a whole different vibe and I'm coming from a higher level of company. By this I mean I have been with a fortune 500 company for over 20 years and we just did things more hard core than they do here. There cutting $7 million off a budget is great, here they think "dang, we don't even make $7 million a year". The one HR person here I spoke to told me it was 'intimidating' but she likes me.

Hi DOug,
I don't sell knives/meat/or magazines door to door. I sell a service that almost all businesses need. |

Since you did military time, are there any government jobs around your area? http://www.usajobs.com

Careful with a government job- anyone on a government payroll may draw a limited salary. For example, our new President wants to limit bankers on the dole to only a half a million dollars a year...
