Years ago, I started collecting Easton Press Books. In the next few months, the new Tony Curtis autobiography will be coming out. It will be signed. The books are exquisite leather bindings. If it is an Signature Edition Easton Press Book, you can bet the signature is authentic. Keep an eye out. http://www.eastonpressbooks.com/leather/category.asp?id=32
I also have an Easton Press Edition of Houdini's, RIGHT WAY TO DO WRONG. The book came from the Library of Congress series. There is an 11 page booklet that came with the main Title. The booklet describes how and when Houdini's personal copy arrived at the LOC. There is interesting biographical info in the booklet and subsequent info regarding the book after the book was first published and distributed. There is not a printing date of the Easton Press Edition, but in the eleven page booklet, it states "90 years later". The original was published in 1906, so this edition must have come out in 1996. A few years ago, I went to the Library of Congress. I actually made it through security clearance. I spent a half day in a sitting / viewing room. I had the opportunity to view through the original Houdini Scrapbook. The one with the early postcard he sent his mother regarding Galveston, TX. I also personally handled all of the Hofzinser Equipment. The curator did not know how many of the tricks worked. After sliding on cotton gloves, I proceeded to share some of the effects with him. When I came to the Hofzinser Bell, I pushed down on the secret button at the top of the bell. When I lifted the bell up, there was a nice 1 1/2" stack of rice, pyramid in shape, on the wooden table. We carefully used an index card to move the rice to the edge of the table where I reloaded the bell. I was as amazed as the curator when that rice suddenly and quietly appeared. |

I looked but I didn't see the Tony Curtis book. I have seen the signed slip-cased book on Ebay for $50-$60 for the last couple of months.

Tony's book is an interesting read. A lot about who he slept with (Tony is not shy about that topic). Great pictures and insight to his life.
