Just wondering if there are any DVDs or books out there which teach coin magic (gaffed or ungaffed) with large coins for stage purposes?

What do you consider "Large (not jumbo)"? Eric Evans has a DVD out on street magic with US dollar sized coins, progressing to larger coins that are not as large as the standards Jumbo. Smaller than these coins, but larger than a US dollar, are the Norm Neilsen palming coins. Jim Pace has a lot of work on DVD using these coins, as they seem to be what he uses all the time.

Hi Curtis,
Sorry, I was referring to coins of US dollar size or larger which do not require any tables and magic that can be done with them on a small stage for say 100 people. Thanks for the tips about Eric Evans and Jim Pace - I'll do some research. Kind regards, |

Ah, with that clarification, I'd say look at:
John Carney's Book of Secrets for his version of the Vernon Coins and Glass, and the Miser's Dream. The LVMI 2003 discs have my Coins to Glass routine that I use for such circumstances. Of course, the original Vernon routine in the Chronicles. There's the dealer item Coppentro. I've seen Ultimate 3 Fly done for crowds that size. Ramsay's Coins in Hat was performed on stage, by Ramsay. I believe most of the Robert-Houdin coin material was meant for a small stage/parlor audience. After that, there's a stage magic section in Bobo's, and most of the material in Downs' books and the Hoffman books was stage.

Hi Curtis,
I did some searching for the effect you mentioned "Coppentro" - could you please give me some idea where to start looking for this - none of my searches showed up anything. Thanks heaps, |
