How many miles do you travel before you start charging mileage?

Donald,
This topic was covered under the "Tricky Business" section. I tried to run a search, so I could give you the thread - but the Café quicksearch wouldn't let me.

I usually roll mileage into my fee so it isn't a separate item. (Although I make certain the client knows all travel charges are included.) When talking to a client, I generally google map their destination and get a quick idea of miles and time. If it takes me more than an hour to get there - not exactly scientific - I simply add a dollar per mile (rounded up) to the fee. (Amounts to 50 cents per mile round trip.) Over 4 hours one way, I add an overnight - over 6 hours and I fly.

Do the search and you will find some great information.

Tom,
thanks. I'll check. Also a good idea about rolling the travel into the fee rather making it a seprate item.
