I am building a new box for my Bump In The Night Routine, a custom box if you will, to allow multiple gimicks to be used to accomplish the illusion. The reason is that I will not be making just doing 3 bumps but 7. Your input would be appreciated on these issues;
1. What is the best demisions for a protus cabinet, as this will be one of the methods for the illusion. I am thinking about makeing the box 4x4 foot, but need to have enough clearnce in the front to stand in it for a second without the gimmick being seen (if you know what I mean). So would I need to go with 3.5 foot wide and 4 foot long by 6.5 foot high? 2. At the begining the sides will fold down to show the inside empty (using a method I came up with) then once they are put up again the gimmick for the protus cabinet will be put in place. This allows the bumps to take place with the front of the cabinet open. Then at the end of "Bump in the night" the protus cabinet gimmick" is moved, and the sides are folded down again, once again implimenting my method as used at the begeining. I am not going to go into detail about my method of concelemnt when the sides are folded down (and no a base will not be uesed, at least not a large one "if you know what I mean") So to anyones understanding, has there been a version of "Bump in the night" performed that implminted such a prop and series of methods? If not I am claiming rights to this method, and will probley mareket a version of the cabinet utilizing these methods.

Million Dollar Mystery would be a good method for this assuming you can rig it.

Sounds good, do you usually work in the round? For 7 bumps you need 8 people, sounds like use a version of the Jarrett cabinet principle.

I currently do and have a Bump in the night tower illusion that works in the same way as you implied. Mine is shown empty before screens are rolled down three bumps come out typical and the same routine. At the end I have all screens pulled away to show nothing. I built and came up with this idea back in the summer. I did think about selling it and posted it on ebay for weeks I even told a couple of people the effect that wrote me about due to the ebay ad. So the answer is yes I have done this before and will be putting it in my new promo.

You can PM me and we can talk more. I just read your other post indicating it can be done surrounded mine can't. If so please PM and I will share my method and we can make sure we are not stepping on toes.

I was thinking Jarrett as well or Morrit.
Steinmeyer books would be idea here. Not he Jarret 21 person style cabinet, what he used for the Greenwich Village show. J |
