is there anywhere to see street magic in San Diego? I'm going sometime in early june.
Is there a magician at Sea World? Is Brad Burts shop worth visiting? I'm going, just thought I'd ask. Thanks, Big Jeff |

Regarding street magicians: You might catch someone on the weekends in Balboa Park. If they still have the same lottery system, you might call ahead and speak with the parks staff and see if they've had magicians about recently.

Big Jeff,
When I left S.D. in '84 brad was still working at Magician's World down town and owned by Chuck Martinez. that was a great shop. I haven't been to Brad's new shop in Mission Valley. For mail order, he is hard to beat. Brad's a neat guy and an excellent close up magician. I would give it a shot. How about Sea Port Village for a pitch? A couple of friends of mine Bumper and Burnett used to work there in the various plazas. It's a shame that Balboa Park has gotten so strict. Good luck. Patrick |

Jeff:
Brad is a gentleman and a thorough professional. I can't recommend his shop highly enough. (And if you're lucky enough, David Eldridge will be behind the counter when you go in.) Sea Port Village, BTW, has another magic shop in it. It's far more touristy than Brad's.

Thanx for the kind words, Steve. Hope you make it back out to San Diego soon. BTW, for anyone who is making a trip out here, the only days that I am not behind the counter are Sunday and Tuesday.

So that's you, Dave? We have spoken so many times on the phone. I really miss the old 'Magician's World". Is Brad's shop anything like the old shop?

I went to SD last summer and couldn't get a pitch outside of the gaslight district. I talked to the people at the Sea Port village magic shop and they told me I would get the run around. I didn't get to Brad Burts shop, but the seaport village shop was fantastic. I believe I saw good quality props for a Nate Leipzig effect I've never seen before or since. I may try SD again, but it will probably be in another incarnation
