Is there really much difference between one brand and another when it comes to Snow Storm packets?
Does any one make their own? The shredder in my office makes perfect confetti sized pieces and I have considered making my own, but it seems like they wouldn't pack tight enough to give a good size load.

I think the main differences are color and size (amount of "snow" in each packet).
While we are on this topic I may as well ask if anyone would happen to know a good way to steal a snowstorm. (preferably not from a table, but from a pocket) The problem is the confetti always pops out when it is in my pocket. Is there a way to make sure it is stuck in the packet? Matt

Check out the ideas on snow storm in Tarbell. There are several methods detailed there on steals, although I don't recall any of them being from the pocket.
You might try a large pill box or mint tin in yuor pocket to keep the packet from crumbling until you're ready for it.

You can also use the TLC holdouts - they work very well for just about everything, including snowstorm packets! Tarbell and many other older books describe using a hollowed egg filled with confetti. You can place this in a ball holder, and just crumple the egg into tiny pieces and release the confetti. I have used this method myself and it is very good, but takes far more time to prepare than simply ordering pre-made snowstorm packets. |

Alright I might try the egg method.
Where could I find a TLC holdout?

BDC-
Thanks for the tip on the egg. I have Tarbell, but for some reason I have never found this idea in there. I will be looking for that tonight when I get home I'll be looking into it. It's already given me an idea for how to make a "unique" presentation of the effect.

If you wanna place your snowstorm in the pocket, you should get a different version of the snowstorm. Contact a member named Wanlu here. My snowstorms are all from him and its basically ALOT of flakes packed in a tight tissue bag. Its about the size of a throw streamer and the flakes fly really high and there's much more compared to a regular snowstorm. Try it out. All you need to do is tear the tissue and produce the snow...no more premature breaking!

When checking for this in Tarbell, look under Winter in China...

I was never able to find the egg idea BDC mentioned (unless I simply overlooked it) but I would assume it would be similar to prepping a blown egg?
