Anyone done this as an opener? The girl in the TA dvds who watched him do it already seemed prime from whatever Wayne Houchin had been doing before.

I did it as an opener, and it turned out really well. I think it sets you apart from the rest, since I went into it "most magicians do pick a card effects, but I want to do something more meaningful".
And I must say that it does more than enough to attract others and get interest in you. While I was performing, the girl was still showing the card to others. Try it, and it will work great. |

Aaron Fisher's "Search and Destroy" seems like a good lead-in. Two cards slowly move together to sandwich a selected card. Very easy to do. The TA card can ride along assuming it's back is not overtly displayed during the spread. Turn the deck face up and cull in position to force (I use Mike Close's MC Double Spread Force from the Frog Prince to both force the card and hide it's back).
I've always used TA as an encore, however. It's very strong. |
