I posted this in the Inner Thoughts section, but after some thought figured this is actually a better place. I know that the effect "Crystal Vision" has been out for a while now, and it has recieved mixed reviews.
However, I was wondering if anyone has come up with some uses for this strange little item? Seems that it could be a very spooky type of revelation with the right theme. |

Crystal Vision, the version with the glass disc was created by Morty Rudnik,
several decades ago. It is very simple, but thatis part of its strength. Consider using it in conjunction with spirit writing via breathing on the glass; or possibly routined into an ice coins effect. ie. a picture of the president on the coin appears in the glass disc. Since these presaidents are deceased, it lemds itself to a spirit coin effect. Kotah |

Of course, mounting the disc in a monocle or even a pair of eyeglasses works too for presentational justification.

Philemon. a monocle worn by you would look distinguished. I on the other hand might make a spectacle of myself.

This is the effect I was referring to:
The Effect Crystal Vision by Pieras Fitikides Crystal Vision allows you to make on-the-spot predictions which will appear on a LAMINATED card within a SEALED envelope. You are supplied with the special gimmick that can be used in MANY ways. Even though the prediction is in a sealed envelope, you can influence the prediction at a moments notice, without opening the envelope and it can be done right under the spectator's nose. This gimmick can be used in other applications such as secretly gaining or passing information from an assistant to the performer; spirit slate writing, pre-show work and more. This gimmick is very versatile and with a little thought, will become a strong hidden assistant in your arsenal of secret weapons. Comes complete with instructions and everything needed to perform immediately. Available in Poker card size. Great for close-up, stand-up, walk-around and impromptu effects. |

There are two efects wich work with the same principle, both by Pieras Fitikides: Crystal Vision and Crystal Card. I prefer the second.
I really don´t like Crystal vision, Isn´t my kind of prop. The prediction is wathever you like, but is too faint. And the prop is suspect. Well, that´s my opinion. Now, what you want: What if you talk about a Spirit Writting receptor? You can present the card as an artifact developed by a scientist (may be in the early XX century) to comunicate with the spirits (I think the prop cannot be presented as and old element. Is laminated in plastic, so, the XIX century is not a good idea). You can use it in a Dead and Alive test. You perform your favorite D&A test and then you show the envelope, let the spectator open it and he will find the initials of the spirit. In the right way, it can be a very spooky routine.
