I'm interested in the book Magic by Gosh, and also the video The Life and Times of Albert Goshman. Which, if either, are the best bang for the buck?
I'm leaning toward the video, simply because I've heard so much about "The Act," but never had a chance to see it. |

I would have to advise that you get both. The book covers the material in greater detail, but there is nothing like seeing the master perform. Although Albert was ill and older when this was filmed (and they hit him with bad camera angles at inopportune moments), it is really cool for those of us who never got to see him live to have this record of his performance.
Many of the longtime Castle guys say that, while magicians came to The Magic castle to see Vernon, the laymen came to see Albert Goshman.

It is true. Goshman rocked. My Ex wife. HATED magic. But I dragged her to a convention to see Paul Gertner. She was NOT impressed. But Al Goshman closed the closeup show. And she said that "That was the best magic I have EVER seen"... I learned my lesson.
If you ever get to a point where words have no meaning, you're probably talking to a dog.

Magic by Gosh is an excellent magic book to purchase. The book has some biography and explains many Goshman's ideas of magic. It also has several of Al Goshman's routines.

There's also the Albert Goshman lecture video/DVD from International Magic in London.

But this is Albert Goshman in a in an rare quality mood. He captivate his audiance (200) with his now famous act, and he gets a standing ovation in the end. A DVD you will treasure. Peo
