Well ill chime in on this one. This pdf is one that I was a little bit on the line to buy. however, non the less I decided to get it. At first the out look was good. The ideas in this book are exactly what I like in a magic trick, there completely off the wall. The idea's are really odd and different which makes for a very enjoyable book. however, then I came across one of the effects which begins talking to mixing chemicals and using them on your body. This stright away raises alarm bells. This is one I suppose you take into your own hands and your carefull to use. I don't think I would personally like to try it. This put aside, there is also an effect in the book that can be done over the phone or instant messenger and I LOVE these sorts of effects. The method is actually very simple and quite bold but it works beautifly. It really fools em to the core.
There are a lot of different idea's in this book, some good and some risky but overall a very good purchuse. There are some cool and different ida's in this book expecially the over the phone effect! Check it out, there is something for all. Jamie Daws

I really enjoyed Matthew's thinking in his new release, "Mentally Unstable". In the purpose of being transparent, I swapped ebooks with Matthew and am glad to offer a few thoughts.
"Working Nine to Five for Gilbreath" is a clever, clinical conditions "card calling" sequence that I am sure will appeal to many. I like this and thought it would be a great way to "insure complete fairness" before card calling. Nice. "X-Ray Spectator" is a way to give a participant the illusion of x-ray vision. First they can see through your arm (which they really do), then they see into their own mind. I liked this a lot with the caveats mentioned above. This could be a great addition for the "mind over body" type effects. This could sit nicely in the theatre next to a pulse stop or other physical manifestation. PK Touches? Weird and interesting. I like it alot. "TV Magazine Test"...just what it says on the tin. "Esp Predicto"- is a prediction effect of sorts. I like this idea and I think it could be best utilized in a sequence of predictions or influenced-type, Rhine effects. This would go nicely with Max Maven's "Shape Up" (which is a an ESP "Stop effect)". Matthew effect is simple (it may not move the earth under you), but I like it. "Whats my Birthday" - Quite simply stated, anagrams for revealing birth-months (with some extra helps for the day). Very useable information and Matthew has taken the effort to make this available. Nicely done. "Mind Over Mobile" - This is Matthew's thought-of card effect, which can be done over the phone (as the name would imply). I like this because the procedure's does not feel too "contrived", which is a nice feature. I do perform some effects that garner a similar result. Matthew's effect comes with some freedom, but requires a little "dancing" on your part. Any mentalist should not be threatened by the small need for a "two-step" to determine the thought of card. Very nice. The caveat is that all the cards used (can be less than the entire deck) must be called out, but that is a common feature of these types of effects. This would be a nice alternative to Eddie Field's phone effect (which was featured on the Paul Vigil "Prime Cut" DVD). This one may be a bit more subtle. Cool. I am glad Matthew shared his ideas with us. I am sure many will find use for the extremely practical and (what I am sure would be) effective effects. It always takes courage to release one's ideas and I offer "kudos" to Matthew for a job well done. With regards, Sean |
