Not sure if this has been posted or not.
However, The Great Ali Bongo has passed. He will be missed.
For those who believe, no explanation is necessary; for those who do not believe, no explanation will suffice.

A great loss to relatives and friends who knew and loved him ...
and the rest of the magical fraternity, who will miss such a creative thinker. |

What a fine gentleman. I met him at Kramiens (Oregon convention) he invited me to attend the London magic circle which I did; again he was very gracious and welcoming ---- a nice memory

I remember bringing a friend to a convention public show held in Scottsdale in the early 1990's... It was a small intimate theater, and there had been a plethora of stage card effects performed by various magicians. My friend hated card tricks and was rising to leave when Ali Bongo took the stage -- so colorful and doing the silliest routine with squeekers, the bird warbler or both...not that a non magician would know. My friend started to laugh until she cried, a very loud laugh and the audience roared, and Ali Bongo moved even funnier to the sound effects... the audience and my friend roared even more. At the end, as the great Ali Bongo did his Pongolian farewell, he got a sustained standing O, and my friend whispered, " You, know, I think I like magicians now."

I once had to pleasure (and it most emphatically was)of having dinner with Ali Bongo (real name William Wallace),his mother and Jay and Francis Marshall at Bob Parish's house on Briar Place in Chicago. There was no magic done that night. The lively conversation was mostly about legitimate theater. Mr. Bongo had recently given the Marshall's a kitten which they ever after insisted was an Ali Cat
All the world's a stage ... and everybody on it is overacting.

His name is carried on in the Micro Magic Competition at the British Ring convention each year - hardly seems yesterday that he was with us - such a great gentleman of magic
