Hi! Here is a thread for the introduction of things (ghost, UFO, monster, giant rat, etc) you saw or experienced YET you are not claiming you believe in what you saw. For example I will now tell a story that is completely true yet I don't believe in the subject matter, nor anything else for the most part. So share without thinking people will say "you are nuts, there ain't no such thing as a giant rat". Here goes!
I was about 11 years old and we were driving from California to the Atlanta area where my dad had transfered. We were in Oklahoma, this was a rural area East of the Norman area (note to Keith if you see this, your boss' moms name is Adilade, I got her confused with Betty)visiting my moms friend and her family. We stayed for the day, the plan being to stay at a motel and then keep moving South East. It got dark and a hard core Okie lightening storm moved in. My brother and the older boys were out in the garage and they came in with a very frightened dog to report that the horses were going nuts and the dog wouldn't go out of the garage, with the storm it was no wonder. A short while later the sheriff stopped by to tell Betty that she better get her horses in because livestock was freaking out all over the area. The boys got the horses in when they came in and said that when lightening flashed they saw a really big guy trying to run across the road and they were scared, as were the dogs. We get in the car to leave and my older brother says to look out the window and see if we can see the big dude, I'm sitting on behind my dad who is driving. There is like an irrigation ditch behind the mail box, you rural types know what I mean, for rain run off, and when lightening strikes I see clear as heck what looks like an ape mixed with a bear with grayer than black hair and it is huge and staring back at the car, his head moving as we drive out. It looked like a big foot/swamp monster, hairy and almost human in the face. My father, who already is out of his environment (born and raised in Brooklyn) says "What the $@$@$? and hits the gas even though it is raining and he was normally very safe. He guns it down the road then slows down and turns to my mom and asks "are there any zoos near here?". She said no and he said he thought he saw a bear and we got to the motel and that was about it. When I got older my brother swears he saw what he saw and never implied it was a joke (guy in costume or rigged up model) and my dad told me he saw something that looked like a bear but he didn't know enough about wild animals to know for sure, but it was big. Cool huh? |
