Anyone know what Steve Beam's current status is? Has he put out anything new recently?

Hey, no fair! It's too easy when they use their name as their web site address!
Trust me, I've run up against the same 'Duh!' myself.

Steve Beam's COUNTER ATTACK was published last year. It offers full descriptions of various card counts that Steve has developed over the years, plus a large section of solid, working effects that put these counts to use.
His 2008 lecture notes NOTEWORTHY are, well...quite worthy, too. Excellent material. Regards, Mick

The Counter Attack book is largely based on his variation of the Elmsley Count...that I CANNOT figure out how to do at all. The moves make sense in theory, but I have not been able to actually make my fingers "do" the stuff. Maybe his count is more appropriate for different hands than mine?
Also, while I was reading through it, I was constantly thinking...why not just use the Elmsley...a couple tricks have some reasoning behind why he doesn't just do that, but I wasn't convinced. Overall, I like Steve Beam's stuff, but he has a passion for either stacking or "knowing the 17th card down before starting" tricks and that just doesn't make much sense for my magical needs.

LE...I just pulled the book off my shelf and looked through it again to be sure.
In addition to his 'Beamsley Count' (Steve's EC variation) several effective false counts are offered that have nothing to do with the venerable Elmsley Count. For example, the Killer Count (and various applications) is an incredibly versatile maneuver to have in your bucket of tools. I'm sort of happy about your assumptions concerning Steve's passions...the fewer magicians doing this stuff the better, as far as I'm concerned. Best, Mick
