Anyone know anything about this?
"Imagine being able to write something down on paper or a card and just when you need to create a flash, not having to pull out a lighter or bulky igniter-but simply touching your Sharpie against it and the burst of light and fire you needed happens instantly. Imagine no more. With this DVD you'll learn exactly how to turn a Sharpie or similar pen into an electronic igniter capable of lighting most combustible materials. Comes with BONUS instruction: how to make a flash cannon. Over two hours long; this is some serious DIY Magic instruction!" http://www.blacksmagicgroup.com/cart/pro......ctid=193 Sounds like it would be a great gimmick to have, you could truly use your sharpie as a magic wand. I wonder how practical, difficult, and expensive it is to create the sharpie. Allen |

Hmm, this sounds interesting. Is there a video anywhere?

Rick Haslett has released this effect a few years ago.
Are black magic aware of this? I put my review of the Fire Tip Sharpie long ago and I have used it in my table hopping shows with great success for a long time now.

Wow, no wonder I couldn't find it through a search for Flash Sharpie. I thought I had seen something like this a while ago but I couldn't remember. It looks like the gimmick already exists, this is just a DVD about building it yourself.
Café Review: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=109 Video: http://005666f.netsolhost.com/realmedia/......p237.mpg A few places to purchase it already made: http://www.hanklee.org/xcart/product.php......0&page=1 http://005666f.netsolhost.com/p52.html I still wonder how much it would cost to make one yourself. If it costs $25 for the DVD and another $25 in parts I may just want to pay the extra $20 and purchase the already working Sharpie. Guess the DVD would be good if you wanted to make a few different ones (spares, black & silver sharpie) |

The only thing I regret is that it does not have a push button. If you want a push button ignition, Rick also has a pen that does the same job.

So this one is always active? That's actually what I was looking for but figured it had a push button. I'd love to be able to let the spectators do the igniting and wanted them to be able to use the sharpie without accidentally discovering a button.
I guess the only thing is that it could be dangerous to store that marker anywhere near flash material. |

No, it is not always active. You get the instructions how to construct it with a magnetic reed switch and use eg a pkring to activate it.
He goes into great detail soncerning the construction of the pen but I wish he had used more closeups of the proceedings. He uses a supersharpie (the bog fat one) but you could usa a standars sharpie but it would be less space for the electronics, eg use a 4a battery instead of a 3a one. Mikael Johansson Sweden
