I was not too sure where to place this topic, so I’ve placed in a few that I thought would generate responses.
So my girlfriend sat on her prescription glasses, causing them to break in half-nerd style. Unknown to her, I purchased her the same pair and wanted to present them to her in a form of a magic trick. She is currently attending college and lives out of town. Being tight on money, I’ve instructed her to bring them with her when she returns home for Easter weekend so I can fix them with this “special bonding glue” that I have. My idea is while allegedly fixing the glasses, pull a switch, and after a little time misdirection give the glasses to her restored. My request is for any ideas for a simple, but deceptive switch. My original plan was to bond the two broken pieces with some glue or tape, then ditch the spent pair into a TOPIT while introducing a scarf from my coat pocket with the new pair concealed behind. The plans to attend a fancy restaurant, which gave me the opportunity to wear the coat tailored with the TOPIT, fell through. As of now, not sure if I am going to be able to use the TOPIT, so any other ideas for a switch would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys! |

You might be able to make it really easy by having her hand them to you, then you realize that your "glue is actually over here on the table", walk over to grab it (and effect the switch), now the rest is all acting.

You can also switch with the aid of a handkerchief being used to clean them.

Michael beat me to the punch. Do the old gypsy switch rolling up the broken pair and revealing the fixed pair.
