Hi everybody
I thought I'd share my favorite hobby with you guys: Urban Exploring. You go out and find building that are empty for a long time, schools, hospitals, hotels or private homes and explore them. Its a very magical feeling to enter a place that hasnt seen human souls in quite some time. We make pictures and enjoy the creepy, weird atmosphere... You don't take anything, and you don't break things. You are respectful to the ghosts of the building. Urban Explorers sum it up with: "We only take pictures and we only leave footprints." Here's an example: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=90......cddc954e (The girl is my girlfriend Katrin, the guy with the Jeans-Jacket is my best buddy, and the other guy with the leather Cap, well that's me ) Anybody of you guys did similar things?

A few months ago, a shop lifetr in my area climbed over a chainlink fence to escape the police officers following him. He fell from the top into the grounds of an old abandoned hospital and broke his leg on the concrete. I was the medic who treated him. Afterwards I was threatened with legal action because I tresspassed on private property.......

Nice, Lozey! That makes a lot of sense. Probably things are even worse over here. We have burglars suing homeowners when they injure themselves breaking in! Doctors won't stop to help automobile accident victims for fear of being sued.

Down here in Aus we still have the 'caveclan' who do all that kind of thing - and it is considered trespassing to do it - they just 'dodge the law' so to speak. Personally I've done urban caving (drains etc) and found some amazing stuff but abandoned building nope. Its great fun though...just be smart

We have actually been told NOT to stop at accident scenes because it isn't our job, that's the job of the NHS ambulances (note - We drive exactly the same vehicles with the same crew, training and equipment). We could actually be sued or fired because we neglected the job we are supposed to be doing (i.e. the transport) in order to help. So basically, I'm expected to let people die........ |

I did a lot of Urban Exploring in college. This thread has me sitting here reflecting on those days. I really wish I had pictures from those adventures.
