Hi, Guys
This is the final look of my Mendoza Sets I made myself a drawstring bag and also a wooden wand This is the final look of the set http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q106/......3393.jpg http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q106/......3388.jpg For me the patinas are great, give it an antique/old look. The closer look of the bag http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q106/......3389.jpg I made the bag from velvet fabric on the outside and add satin fabric on the inside. So it gives elegant look. I didn't know how to sealed the end of my silver drawstring. What I did was I just wrap it with some threads. If you have a knowledge in boy-scout world, that knowledge really comes in handy. Comments are welcome Enjoy Cheers Andre

Hi Andre;I'm sort of new here but have enjoyed looking at the items that you make yourself. Too me that is the best way to go if one has the ability, which you most certainly do! Keep up the good work & "knock 'em dead!"

Very Nice!
If the ropes are synthetic, you can quickly poke them into a flame and using your fingers lightly pinch the melted strands together. You could also give them a fresh cut and dip the very ends into white glue.

Thanks guys for a very kind words.
Josh, yes the ropes are synthetic. but with flaming them, you will get the blackish thing which I don't want. Yep I'm thinking about the glue as well. Is there any end-rope sealer made from plastic ? Cheers Andre

For your drawstring, you might wish to try clear silicone. I use it on ropes and I absolutely love the feel and appearance.

John, how do you go about applying the silicone to your ropes. I've found in the past when applying glue that the rope tends to fray but I can use my fingers to form it back into shape while it has the glue on it. I think silicone will be too messy for that.

Andre… Try wrapping the ends with thread or model cement (glue).

I have made my own bag using simular rope. What I did to the ends of the ropes was to tie a Double Fishermen's knot, then cut off the ends poking out of the knot.
Before attempting this knot I had to wrap tape on the ends to prevent fraying. The knot itself will prevent any further fraying. Hope this helps. |

The silicone is viscous enough that the rope holds its shape while the treatment hardens. Does this answer your question? John
