Actually the Nintendo DSi has a lot of Apple programming in it. It only plays AAC and m4a files in the music player, but stores photos as jpegs. The onboard RAM is amazing and has a built in photoshop (obviously). In addition, an SD slot upgrades to more than 2G for more storage, you can download apps up to 97 slots worth. I have more fun with the unit than the games! Dave, get your kid a used DS lite or an old SP, keep the nice techie stuff for yourself!
