I've read the description for this, by Bruce Elliot, and Harry Blackstone Jr. did this so well, but I can't find a good description of how to work in the misdirection on this effect. Does anyone know of a good description of this, in print or on DVD?

I can't think of a good description either. But I will be happy to show you how I do it at Abbott's, if you remind me.

Thanks! The description in "The Best In Magic" leaves out important details, such as how to make the knot seem like a square knot under close scrutiny. Until then, I'll just use an end flip on a created offbeat, to go from an overhand knot to the required "knot".

LOL!
Knots are not always easy to explain. Saturday morning I spent some time with an outstanding professional Las Vegas magician teaching him how to tie a knot that looks real but vanishes for the pro model (one-handed) of Knots-Off Silk. Get the one-on-one help. It is a good investment in self. Good Luck! See you in Colon in August. (This will also be in my lecture there.) Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |

I just got the World's Greatest Magic DVD on the Slydini Knotted Silks from L&L, and Bill Malone does an excellent job explaining it.

Not only is it on the WGM DVD, which is from Bill's On the Loose, Volume 1 DVD, but you also get a DVD of the performance/explanation in L&L's "Slydini's Knotted Silks Package."
It's a great false not, once you know how to do it!

I met Tony Slydini at the Faucett Ross Magic Fest in St. Joseph, Missouri, many moons ago.
Had lunch with him and my wife, and I took him out to breakfast. Tony took the time to (patiently) show me his knots, then he personally autographed Fulves's "The Best of Slydini" limited edition two volume set to me. And, he GAVE me a set of his silks......... Tony was amazing........and gave me a very nice compliment when he told me that I had the best false cut he'd ever seen in his life. |

I just wanted to put in a plug for Palmer Magic's Slydini Silks.
I ordered a set of their performance silks, as well as a set of their "Training" silks. (These are "seconds" that Palmer won't sell at full price. Palmer emailed me immediately after I placed the order to inform me that the performance silks were back-ordered for 10 days. He shipped the training silks immediately.) Two days after placing the order, I received the training silks. I can't find the flaw. They are made of rip-stop parachute nylon and are so much better than the set I had been using that there is no comparison. Palmer's fast, professional service is a rarity, and the quality of the product ensures that I will have no hesitation about dealing with them in the future. Kudos to a great magic dealer. Don
