I tell you what, if he's going for originality, and the ability to be convincing, he has my vote!

Excellent presentation ! This proves aswell that the subtrunk doesn't need to be presented in a fast and furious way.
Another version that always impressed me is "Excalibur", created by Alan Wakeling for Mark Wilson and presented these days by his son Greg. In his version it seems aswell impossible to "escape". But it looks more impossible in Paul Daniels presentation, since he lets everything examine by audience members. Oliver. |

Here comes the classic question...
Is this being sold on the Market? Or anything that teaches this principle in a Book, DVD etc..? Thanks!

Oh there's a few of his effects that are now on Youtube that are still puzzling me inspite of my ever growing magical library.
Paul Daniels- nothing short of an amazing entertainer. I think what inspires me the most about his magic is his ability to make even ordinary effects extraordinarly entertaining.

There are several standard illusion principles at work here, including one that I have not seen used with illusions before (in my experience), but is used in a Mak magic parlour effect.
Pakar: You would have to review 4 types of effects, a handcuff escape, a sac escape, a cage escape, and a solid (yes) box/container escape. These four effects have been combined into one flawless escape routine. What I liked about the routine is that there is SO much for the assistants to do, and check out. Blair

Wow, I've never heard that many principles at work at once!
I honestly don't even know where to begin!

Check out the Abbott book House of Mystery, every one of his routines had five or six different priciples at work.

Blair, if it's ok with you, please PM me also the sources Paul Daniels used to put this illusion together.
PEOPLE, I AM NOT PUTTING THIS TOGETHER AND COPYING THE ROUTINE. I will not be presenting it this way, but it would be great for some ideas as an escape. Without the Handcuffs though, don't like that bit. And he shouldn't have dimmed the lights at the end, imho... Unless that's what is making it work... Anyway, great effect.

As I mentioned above there are many methods at play here. But as I have received several e-mails, I have located a photo and the actual name of the Mak magic effect that I feel this illusion is (somewhat) based on. (I did not have the instructions for mine)
http://www.magictrickcollection.com/mak/ProxyChests_2.jpg This is a great collection of prop magic photos of various manufacturers The box on the right is solid, and placed over the trunk on the left, which has an item "locked" inside. Blair
