Two coins, a quarter and dime, are borrowed fromthe audience. The quarter is placed on tray and covered by a cocktail glass. The dime is placed on the bottom of the inverted glass. in full vieo, the dime VISIBLE penetrates the glass to join the quarter !

I liked this and it looks very good. Have an idea of how it works and this would fool many.

Great trick from better than 20 years ago. It was called "Blasted".

The same effect can be achieved using a cheap prop - A Coin Coaster.
Demo HERE. P.S. The coaster used in the e-bay auction (mentioned in the first post) works on a different principle.

I have this effect from Marvins Magic it uses the same brass trim coaster with black felt . Marvins uses a playing card on top of the glass to penetrate the second coin ! The old version Blasted from Tannens magic worked very similar no need for the playing card.

I actually own the original. I think I bought it back in the late 80's. The really nice thing about the original was that you could freely swirl the dime and the quarter around the bottom of the included champagne style glass and then literally pour the quarter (after removing the dime) onto the included coaster. It all looks so clean. Then, covering it all with the upside glass, you would 'penetrate' the dime. Visually and audibly very convincing.
It's a really nice little trick that is currently displayed on one of my shelves in my library just waiting for the ever so occassional "what's that?" from a visitor to my home. peace, charlie |
