Apologies if this is old hat. A handful of images from 1941 Vermont State Fair that some here might find interesting. From The Library of Congress.

I love the animal show with the pelican on the bally. Such great banners. There's a book about the State Fair that uses a lot of these in it, but it gives about the same ammount of info as the flickr page does.

I don't know. It was the World of Mirth Show, so a look at the Billboard magazine for 1941 might give us a clue. The answer might be in the Illustrated History of the Carnival, but I don't have those books at hand.
