The above title is a great little trick by Marlo from an issue of IBIDEM. The basic premise is to write down a prediction (a card) before even touching the deck. Well the other week while performing this feat, after I had written the prediction and the spec gave me his shuffled deck lo and behold the prediction was at the face of the deck, hello miracle.
A couple of weeks previous I was performing Marlo's "Miracle Do as I Do" (The Card Magic Of...) and the spec pushed out the mate of the card he was thinking of (7C-7S), hello show stopper. By the way Marlo said picking the exact duplicate has only ( or should that be 'actually') happened twice in 43 years of performing the effect. Anyway, I've been interested in this type of idea since reading Vernons "The trick that cannot be explained" and am looking for more. Any leads would be nice. P.S. To all the move-monkeys, try the above. A bit of luck goes a long way and if that fails, you can fall back on your sleights rather than depending on them all the time.

On a similar topic, when performing Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind, you have a one in 9 chance of getting the spectator's card right off the bat. Use this to your advantage. After shuffling the cards back, say "I will find your card right NOW..." turn the deck face up and pause. If you get an "Oh my God!" reaction from your spectator, you're done! This will really creep them out. If you don't get a reaction, continue "...but before I do, I need you to burn the image of your card in your mind..." or whatever line you use.

Mr Joyal, I've been wanting Paramiracles for a while, so I will wait no longer and purchase it this weekend, thanks for the incentive.
Mr Fred B, which version of Out of Sight, Out of Mind do you mean, is it the one in Inner Secrets of his other version in Revelations? Any more suggestions out there? Cheers.

Mr. X,
The version of Out of Sight, Out of Mind I perform is from Michael Ammar's ETMCM video. One of the possible selections ends up being on the face of the deck. If this is the spectator's card, she will find it strange that her selection is on the face. With the right timing, you can turn a coincidence into a miracle. |
