Hi everyone.
I'm interested in learning shuffle tracking, was wondering if this is any good source to start learning this? Thanks in advance. Michael |

I'd start with the Forte book, Casino Game Protection over the Snyder book. I think Steve's book gives you more bang for the buck. However, Arnold's book is an eventual must-have if you are really interested in shuffle tracking. Incidentally, Arnold's book began as a series of articles in his Blackjack Forum magazine.
Jason PS: If you're not already an excellent card counter, shuffle tracking may prove difficult. The latter depends on the former, and was invented by (or perhaps discovered is the better word) by counters in the early to mid-70s.

I am not Black Jack player at all but there is a little video of Ace tracking here.
http://www.casinoguysonline.com/ I have a pal who is pro poker player who won a lot Ace tracking but he is now banned from playing the game in the casinio's but can still go in and play other games.

Jason Thanks Jason, I already got the book, but it doesn't go into as much detail as arnold snyder's material (I reckon it doesn't), it just goes over the topics such as mapping a shuffle, etc. What I want is a more detailed approach, a source that will teach me step by step. And card counting is not new to me. I'm familiar with the Hi-Lo method |

Michael,
If you've already got the Forte book and have an understanding of the basics, then perhaps The Shuffle Tracker's Cookbook is the right book for you. I should warn you, as Arnold will, that shuffle tracking isn't for everyone. If memory serves, he mentions that many people simply don't have the visual acuity needed to become successful trackers. There are several drills that he recommends you practice to see if you have what it takes to be a good tracker. I don't remember them all, but I do remember one of them. It involved inserting the cutcard at precise (within 1 or 2 cards) points in a 6-deck stack while it's lying on the table. I believe another one was estimating the number of cards in the discard tray to within just a few cards. Contrast this with the average card counter who only needs to estimate the number of decks remaining to the half-deck level and you begin to see the increase in accuracy necessary to make tracking worthwhile. One last thing, while card counters routinely use a small number of playing deviation indices (Dan Schlesinger's "Illustrious 18" are very popular), a tracker needs to know many more than this to be successful. Do you know most of the (200+) playing indices for the Hi-Lo? If not, get cracking! As you probably know, a complete list of the indices for the Hi-Lo can be found in appendix A of Stanford Wong's Professional Blackjack, arguably the best book available on the Hi-Lo. Good luck, you've got your work cut out for you! Jason
