I believe I remember seeing Cyril Takayama do this in one of his Japanese tv specials.. it seems very situational and not practical.. now if your stage show is set in a bed room scene and you happen to stroll on stage just out of the shower about to get ready for a show, Maybe that would work

Seeing Rich Bloch perform it stunningly at the IBM Reno convention two years ago prompted me to buy it, and I'm very happy to own it. In my opinion it's one of the most dramatic costume changes out there. However, it's important to know that it's best performed on stage, or with some distance kept between you and the audience. Not appropriate for a parlor setting, unless, perhaps, you have perfect control over the lighting.

I saw it 4 weeks ago and talked to the performer and laymen after the show.
It was nicely performed. The artist did it perfectly in a theater with 220 seats. But most of the laymen were not convinced and said that the breast was not real - but a nice gag. The artist protested a bad qualtity of the gimmick, bad sewing, the thread broke during practice, very hard gimmick. You have to adjust the hard gimmick to your body. It is not produced by makeup-specialists from theater. Just a very cheap production, but very nice idea. Perhaps convincing on big stages. For me it was a gag (90%) not magic (10%). You pay for the idea, the bathrobe, towels and a very cheap gimmick produced without love. Worth the money? The above mentioned artist will not perform it anymore. He sold it to me for the original price one week later and I replaced the gimmick with a new one produced by makeup specialist from theater with a nice painting fitting my skin. Now it is up to me to practice to get 100% magic and 100% gag. I will give an updated review after performing it in various places. Gunthard |

To get around the unconvincing look of the fake chest, you could combine this effect with my "Shirt Happens" and expose your real chest and still execute the changes. Just a thought.

Angelo,
Respectfully, no you can't. Have you seen this costume change? It's a twirl and he's done. Looks really good in the demo. James Quote: On 2009-05-26 05:52, Angelo M Carbone wrote:

The chest gimmick needs to be customized, which is best done professionally (I found a local shop to do it for $30). If it isn't, then, yes, the effect could come off looking as a silly gag. And it does help to have a few basic sewing skills (for me, it involved making a new button hole in the robe). Like all good effects, this takes some practice to perform smoothly.
But I've gotten good reactions from my performances which, again, were performed on stage...not in a close up/parlor setting. |

I had the towel made with an eyelet not a button hole (although both will work) for the gimmick so that it would work as in the DVD demo. I have heard of other issues with the other gimmick, not only disgusing this, but also uncomfortable to wear. The change looks great, but it should be done lightning fast to bring it from the "gag" category to a become a magical effect. |

This is the simplest easy-to-make QC effect ever!! And , (ironicly) its gotta be the most impressive! As for the 'breast' problem....you've got it all backwards!! If you just study it awhile a MUCH easier & more flexible method reveals itself!
Everybody wants to beleive.....we just help them along.

I purchased mine 2 years ago and have had great success with it. It is truely one of the most amazing openers invented. I work mainly Corporate labor/Mgt. motivational events and on the proper stage it rates 5 stars. Concerning the chest gimmick, I took it to an air brush specialist who matched not only the skin tones, but also air brushed the chest hair on. Even at a relatively close distance it looks great. Give it a try.............................
