Bing or Google

That is the question.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

I havent used bing yet. I read the other day that if, in a year, people are saying "bing it", Bill Gates will be a happy man.

What do you think Tommy? Have you used it much?

I still like google, but I swear I hate IE more every day.

So I'll still go with Google.
Magic is doing improbable things with odd items that, under normal circumstances, would be unnessecary and quite often undesirable.

I googled "Josh Riel" and got the Magic Café and Monkey Fist Balls.

I binged "Josh Riel" and got a bunch of Yahoos on Myspace.

These results, combined with your good judgment and taste should tell you which one to use.

Perhaps the best result came from WolframAlpha: "Wolfram|Alpha isn't sure what to do with your input"

Who does?

I prefer to keep my input like that, otherwise people would be doing all sorts of stuff with it (Like reading it)(Without my express permission).

I'm sure Google is talking about someone else anyway.

I used Bing the other day to look up flights, however, I found Bing through Google........

I typed "stoneunhinged" into bing and got ZERO hits.

I guess I don't exist.

But at least it let me easily switch between English and German. Google (or perhaps Firefox is to blame?) refuses me such a courtesy. Apparently my IP address is more important than my personal wishes.

(Up until a year or two ago, I kept a bookmark for google.com and google.de. This is no longer possible, even if I disable cookies . No matter how I set up Firefox or my cookies, going to Google ALWAYS goes to google.de. It's unbelievably fascistic.)

Hey this is weird. In Firefox, if I type http://www.google.de or http://www.google.ch or even google.com.au or google.com.pa I go to the correct site. But as soon as I type http://www.google.com I get redirected to http://www.google.ca.

I don't know if it's fascistic; at the very least its bureaucratic.

The reason they do that, is the Canadian Google automatically inserts the word "Ay" after each sentence. So Canadians can understand it.

Interesting. I can use google.ca just fine, it would seem, which solves my problem of easily finding news from English sources.

Apparently google only redirects from google.com and not from the other variations. Strange.

I never heard of Bing, so I Binged "juggler Philadelphia", and "magician Philadelphia". On one I'm 4th, and on the other I'm 8th, so I think that Bing knows how to pick a winner. Being in the top ten always makes me happy.

I also Binged "Al Angello" and my whole arrest record came up (hoochy coochy).

It's just another search engine. It is no better or worse than Yahoo,Google,Alta Vista. Use one you have used them all.

Just for fun, let's compare the entry pages of the major search engines.

Bing – History buff: D-Day books and movies

Yahoo – 4th story down is "Obama salutes vet who died on D-Day eve"

Dogpile – Dog mascot dressed as Land of the Lost character running from dinosaur with the caption, "Don't get lost on your way to the theater this weekend!"

Google – Customized Google logo links to the 25th anniversary of the release of Tetris.

Ask.com – Blank

Well, Bing at least recognizes that it's the 65th anniversary of D-Day.

The video's start faster with Bing.... just drag the pointer on them to see. I don't know if it is faster in other ways. I only had one go so far.

Do you really live on the penal colony of French Giana? I saw, and read "Papalyon". Do you have a butterfly tattoo on your chest?
