Okay, I hope this is the right place for this post. I recently ordered 2 elastic itr's from a magic shop in florida. I recieved both promptly and in good condition I might add. on first use they broke on me, so I called the shop and instead of helping me fix the item or offer an exchange, the owner talked me into buying the tarantula from yigal mesika. I recieved it in good condition and it did not work right out of the box. tried replacing batteries and everything else yigal says to do to no avail. so I sent it back to the magic shop in florida. Now I recieved an email from the magic shop saying that the tarantula is in a million pieces, which completely puzzles the hell out of me because of how its made. there is no way it can be in a million pieces, is made with flexible durable plastic! now I have to go through the post office claims for the insurance and wait before I can get a working tarantula. the owner of the magic shop said he will sell me another tarantula if I want while this claim is going on, what the hell, it didn't work in the first place and now I have no tarantula because its in your hands in a million so called pieces and I'm afraid I am going to be out 85$. so much for customer service right! I am so frustrated that everything I have ordered from this shop has not worked and with the cost of the itr's and the tarantula, I've ****ed over 120$ in the wind. I hope the post office claim goes better than my recent dealings with this shop.

The hazards of buying online....
Might I suggest looking for a brick and mortal magic store near you? Even if it's quite a far journey from you it'll be less of a hassle getting there than dealing with someone in another state by email who obviously doesn't want to help you at all... good luck with your claim, sir. I feel your pain.

In todays technology infested world, I cant understand the communication breakdown when ordering items or just tryin to reach someone on the other end. It amazes me with all the competition out there that any issues are not resolved immediately. A very good way to loose existing customers and turn away potential customers.

Got my insurance check from usps today, and I think I will give penguin magic a try or ellusionist. customer service is everything and I'm not here to bash on the magic shop, just to vent on my experiences with them. I think their customer service can use some work though.
Never got a refund from the itr's that never worked, he talked me into the tarantula. so basically I'm stuck with those, anyone know where to get the elastic so I can fix them? |

If this shop happens to be the one I have dealt with, there are many others who've had the same experience whether face to face or by mail. I got $50 back out of $100 after getting BBB involved and felt fortunate. Rizzo, I asked the guy exactly what you said: "It amazes me with all the competition out there . . . good way to loose existing customers and turn away potential customers" he responded with "there are plenty more customers out there". Ouch!! There used to be a very long posting about a money trap like you;ve been dealing with which has been deleted. Never figured out why. Shame, too, I thought it was a great service to know dealer reputations- would have saved many of us some pain. As to the elastic or repairs, are you near a magic club where some of the guys might help you? Barring that, and this will sound silly but try it, find a jeweler/watchmaker in a flea market that has a more than a few wrinkles and looks like he's used to improvising. ITR's and their parts are just the size they are used to working on, and they don't charge very much. Best of luck! |
