Hi All--
I am soon perform a children's event where I am to perform as a genie. Part of my presentation will be a reading of Alladin and 1001 Arabian Nights. I am trying to find MUSIC for this event. There is plenty of middle eastern music to be found. But what I seek is music that fits the theme, but is also geared towards a children's audience. Music that would naturally go along with a oriental fairy tale. It needs to be instrumental. Here is an example from a Hanna/Barbera cartoon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Ti-9p8OOhk It's close, but not exactly what I seek. Might I ask? Any suggestions? What I need is a CD or mp3 or other downloadable source. Any help would be greatly appreciated. THANKS |

Just a thought, because I don't own it, but...
the first thing I thought of when listening to the youtube clip you included was the soundtrack to Ben Hur. Check out the title "Arrius' Party". It's short, but you can loop it. Also seems like I remember some themes from the Indiana Jones/Temple of Doom music with that kind of theme. Could be wrong. |

Try tracking down a soundtrack written by composer Bernard Herrmann (spelling?). He did the music to the film classic, The 7th Voyage of Sinbad. That could be the very thing you're looking for.

I use Disney's "Arabian Nights" from Aladin which many children sing along to. Also there's a classical piece I sometimes use.

The classical bits were by the Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.
Op. 35 Scheherazade, in four movements, based upon four of the tales from The Nights: "The Sea and Sinbad's Ship," "The Kalendar Prince," "The Young Prince and The Young Princess," and "Festival at Baghdad."
