I saw Barry and Stuart perform an effect on a TV show in which a member of the audience freely named a card which ended up being the only card in the cardbox which was in view well before she named it. I contacted them about it and they said it was an effect they came up with for that particular show.
In other words buying is out of the question. I'm looking for a similar effect. (I'm already aware of Kenton Knepper's "Kollosal Killer" and Marc Oberon's "Bang On") Any other suggestions out there? |

Since this hasn't received any response in a week, I'm bumping it up.

Other than using an envelope and having the spectator draw the card, this is what Dean Dill's new "Revelation" is.

Since I haven't seen B & S's performance it's hard to say.
Method depends on if the assistant removes the card from the box or performer does. One method can be found in the book 'The Magic of Michael Ammar' and a few other resources. |

Quite a few possibilities for how to accomplish something just like you describe, but I cannot think of something in print.

Is this much different to the audience than Invisible Deck?

I have studied the video several times and in my humble opinion, there must be a sort of pre-arrangement with the spectator.(the card forced to the spectator before the show and agreed that she will say the card that she has taken before the show?)During the show they say to "think" of a card, but that is playing with words. Technicaly you cannot say that she is a stooge. It is a technic that is mentioned in several books about mentalisme. It is the only solution that I can think of in this circomstances. |

You gave yourself the best answer. Really having a stooge would also have been possible, why not?

Marc Oberon designed the Master Deck which gives the Magus the ability to cut to any card named - quickly and with no looking. If you are holding a deck of cards and ask someone to name one, cut the card to the top or bottom and palm it. Then pick up an empty box and "pull" the card from the box. This is as close as I can come to doing your effect without a stooge.

You could use CROSSROADS to achieve a similar effect without the bulk of KK or any indexes.

Daniel Garcia's new dvd has something similar that you can perform in close up. Might want to give it a try.

There is a couple ways to do it, but I don't think it's a mechanical way.

Besides the girl's reaction when the selected card is revealed, look at her, and the girl next to her, and watch their reaction when he walks out into the audience and selects her.
