Sorry, I've never heard of "Third Choice." Perhaps others here that saw your thread are in the same situation. Tony |

Corinda is so rich in material that it's possible to read it multiple times and miss the real gems in there.
The problem I have with Corinda is that those gems are mixed in with effects that need some serious updating to work today if they could be made to work at all today. "Ask one of the gentlemen for his tophat and cane..." (Just kidding about the example but you know what I mean.)
I'm selling my hardcover autographed limited edition copy of Jerome Finley's "Thought Veil"

Well, to be honest, I love the routine you are on about. third choice is great. I open my act with it and gets a good response. The funny thing is that Jay Sankey also released ths as an effect with a totally different name yet the effect is exactlle the same thing!!!!!

Hi Rowdy, the sankey effect is called Prediction Impossible.

Yep, pretty much the same! Funny thing is, in Corinda's write-up, he talks about how endless people claim to be the originator.

Yeah, the only difference from the book is that in the book it's playing cards, and that's about it!

Plus Sankey uses two envelopes instead of five.

I prefer the effect within 13 steps though BUT using the esp cards.

My biggest problem with the video is "Why"? I realize the main purpose is to just demo the effect, but the effect makes no sense to me.
You have someone put the five esp cards behind their back and randomly select one by putting it in an envelope. This is AFTER you've already made your prediction. The spec then returns the envelope to you, you open it and reveal that you made the correct prediction. Really? If you make your prediction first, why wouldn't you just hand the spec the 5 cards, have then openly select one and see if it matches. Putting it in an envelope to only take it out soon after reeks of bad magic. So what's the purpose of the envelope in the spec's mind? A handy transportation device? Again, I realize that from the video you are able to see the effect and can put together your own routine, but still -- this isn't mentalism, it's at best a puzzle. |
