I drive her crazy because she is always bugging me to show her something but I won't and I tell her it's because I know she doesn't enjoy the wonderment so why should I waste my time! I also don't say what the effect is called for those that I feel may run straight to YouTube! I figure if they REALLY want to know they'll have to put in the same amount of time and effort I did! |

Hahaha. I know that is true. . Saying the other thing makes me feel happy though I was performing some simple stuff for a guy and the next time I saw him he knew it all because of YouTube

Youtube has lots of tricks exposed. But it's still better than people think they know the method but they don't. Some clips on youtube expose the 'wrong' method.. which is sad..

You could perform a couple of magics with similar concept before performing Card Warp. (Twisting the Aces and Bizzare Twist, for example, are similar concept in the way that card transposes face to back and vice versa.)
If you do so, spectators wouldn't perceive Card Warp as a kind of paper puzzle. (more precisely, they'll give up to think about the mechanics!) |

I agree with you Mickey - Bill Goodwin's "Siamese Twins" is a wonderful effect. Bill's instructions are very good. I even like his patter though will probably change it a bit to match my stage persona.

My favorite card warp would have to be Ben Salinas's card warp. Here's the link for the effect. http://www.magicproshop.com/card-warp-bonus-dvd-p-10616.html

I learned it from Ammar personally. It's a shame people don't know better than to expose.

I don't think normal people has time or patience to surf youtube for magic videos.there are millions of videos out there.if you specific about what you want then it's very hard. And for a guy who went through that much trouble to get a tutorial,he's definitely no trouble for us.though I prefer not telling the trick's name cause some guys just wanna have to know the secret.
Magic is believing in yourself, if you can do that, you can make anything happen.

The way most people will figure this trick out is if you leave the torn cards with them - don't!

Have you really had people figure out the method from torn bits of card? I'm pretty sure I couldn't have.
I leave people with cards if I possibly can. Sometimes they want to keep them. Taking them away seems far more suspicious to me. |

Mike Close's Card Warp is called Dr. Strange Trick.
Dr. Strange Trick and Bruce Cervon's Warp II both have the advantage of being a little harder to explain so most casual watchers wouldn't have the patience to learn the secret. Neither should be explained on you-tube of course. Both excellent versions. Please never use the commercial names of tricks in performance. -Mary Mowder |

Dr. Strange Trick adds layers to the effect and make it a stronger mystery. IMHO.

I agree with MagicbyCarlo.
I used to do the original version then discovered the Dr Strange trick by Michael Close. I think it is in Workers 5. It is a powerful trick if presented properly and I always get a good reaction to it. I let the audience choose the card using a similar idea from Darwin Ortiz at the Card Table called the Card Warp Deck. |

I don't understand why no one does Roy Walton's original ending. It's in the Davenports' manuscript (which is only about $7). I'm kind of surprised that it never caught on as it's far more magical than just tearing the card in half and showing half face up, half face down. This ending, to my mind, almost gives away the method!

I added to another thread about WARP, but at the risk of repeating myself, I've never had problem with Card Warp. I've done it with another card, a bank note, pre-prepared card, unprepared card, my own version of Warp One (Not as flash but my own version) and I always leave the ripped card with the spectator. Once in a while someone cottons on, but are we magicians or what! Misdirection continues even after the trick is finished!!!!
I've never had a problem of someone seeing a trick and explaining how they've seen the tutorial on youtube. Even before youtube magicians were wetting themselves over The Masked Magician. He'll kill the magic industry! Hundreds of years of magic practise EXPOSED. Big who cares. We can learn from enlightened audiences. After all which child has never been amazed at an adult doing a shoddy french drop. And still how easy is it to do the same trick on the same adult and get the same reaction as from the child. Magicians face no problem from youtube-exposure. Only their own bad performance skills. |

You would be surprised how many people are amazed by certain tricks that are exposed quite heavily online, I think it goes down to the point that barely anyone apart from those interested in magic actually seek them out, so no worries.
