Anybody remember the Penn & Teller cable show called "!@#$%^&*"???
Anyway, on one episode Teller had a big fish bowl in which he plunged his hands into, and as he would withdraw his hands from the empty (water filled)bowl fish would appear cascading into the bowl. Does anyone know who made,or makes the apparatus, or if there are plans for making such an apparatus? The bowl looked as if it could hold a good gallon or 2 of water. |

The routine is called Silver Fish, it is currently in their live show at the Rio in Las Vegas. It is a creation of Teller's and there are no plans to put it on the market.

A small version of this called "Appearing Goldfish" is described in The Wizards' Journal #6 (on my site). It is made for a small goldfish bowl with the production of one or two (at the most) gold fish, but by increasing the size of the bowl, the number of fish produced could also be increased. Add to that the concept of making fish appear from your hands (sort of like a living "Miser's Dream") and you could come up with your own version that would not infringe on anything Penn & Teller are working. Goldfish production goes back to the earliest days of magic history, so many methods are available that are no longer in use.
I also came up with a new method of making a live goldfish appear in a sealed bottle of Spring Water (in the Dollar Store Section on my site under the name "Party Cup Magic") just to add one more method to the repertoire. From one Spellbinder to another.

Saw this one at Rio, and I was a disappointed. They exposed it (not on purpose this time I don't think). I don't want to give too much away, but from my seat you would not have to have magical knowledge to see how it worked. I thought surely they've checked sitelines. Maybe a poorly placed light. As I reflect on the show, this was my only disappointment.
