Hi everybody
I've been trying to find some info on the aerial fishing and it is just impossible. I have my method, I'm only looking for the pole/bow. that will Produce a fake fish out of thin air. If you could give me some references to books, dvd's, etc. Thanks |

"Magic Explained," by Walter Gibson, Page 111
"Illusion Builder to Fu-Manchu," by Robert E. Olson, Page 90 I hope that helps. In The Wizards' Journal #6 (on my site) I combine two tricks, "The Chinese Fish Sticks," and "Appearing Goldfish" to do a modern variation on the theme.

I forgot about the John Booth explanation, but he didn't write a book entitled "Classics." You'll find it in his "Marvels of Mystery" page 46. He attributes the trick to a Professor Mingus, c. 1890, and from his performance of it at Tony Pastor's NYC Theater, it caught the attention of Billy Robinson (Chung Ling Soo) and Horace Goldin. Booth made some interesting improvements to the effect that are explained in the book.

Marvels of Mystery was reprinted in the John Booth Classics by Supreme some years ago. Great book as it includes three of John's best books. I assume it's long out-of-print. Best,

I sit corrected. I'd stand corrected, but my typing goes all to pieces.

Abbott's no longer make the pole, the last batch of their pole was back in the 1980's. They put a automobile antenna on the handle.
Owen Magic was the other company that made the pole. I have one of the last they made back in 1981. There are other methods to perform the trick with a pole. The Stull Fish Bowl is one. None of these are made any longer, the last Stull Bowl was sold through Viking Magic. You will have to hope you can find on the secondary market. |

One remaining Aerial Fishing by Xavier Tapias remains for sale delivered to the USA for about $400.00 US. Does anyone own one and be willing to share their thoughts about it?
