Hi card lovers! I just received a very nice manuscript from my friend (who I have not yet met!), John Carey. I know John through his contributions to my column in the Linking Ring Magazine (The Card Corner). John’s CTP Inspired by Pierce is the most popular of the videos at the Card Corner site. His WTF Interchange is also there in the June 2009 slot as “Another Interchange.” (Go to http://www.mallofmagic.com/cardcorner.html and scroll down a bit.
John’s “Further Spotlight” manuscript contains 14 items over 25 pages. The items are well thought out and very practical. I recommend that you check it out. You won’t be disappointed. I haven’t seen John’s DVD (Spotlight on Carey) yet. But I’ll be picking it up soon. John is a member of the Café, so hopefully he’ll be posting regarding how you can obtain the new ebook. Mike

As Mike referenced above, those of us who know John will know he's constantly thinking of ways to move effects one step beyond where they currently are, but only if they improve the effect. The important thing to remember about John's ideas is that they're tested in the real world before he ever puts them into print. Ergo, this is not stuff that *should* work; it's stuff that *does* work, if you're willing to take the time and effort in making each one as seamless as possible.
Good work, John.
Cheers,

Those that know John, as Mike said above, know that ALL of his stuff is material that you can use in 'real life'.
Some of his material gets the best reactions that I have had from laymen, for example his "Inspired By Pierce" effect which I love. Also, John is always willing to help anyone with his ideas and will always listen to your thoughts on his material. Do yourself a favour and check it out. |

John Carey's got some clever stuff on here.
Some of you may know that John is the guy that plays with a LOT of ideas, and some of them are garbage. But then he goes out and tries them for laymen. And the bad ideas die a painful death there. However, he's also got some great tricks, which unsurprisingly give him GREAT reactions from his spectators. And you can be sure that the things in this ebook are from the latter group. John's a good friend of Ben Earl's. And you can be sure Ben doesn't hang out with him because of his good looks. Take a look especially at Cut Off Point (the do-as-I-do) and Counting on You, because they're dead easy, very sneaky, and hit hard. In the interest of full disclosure, John is a friend, but that doesn't change my opinion of his work. It ain't because of his good looks that I like the guy (I'm starting to see a pattern here). I can't give a full review as I haven't tested everything in here, but if you have interest in tried and tested card routines, or breather work (he's got some work on that in here), this might be right up your alley. Best, Derrick |

Thank you Mister Chung..... LOL
A very big thanks to everyone who has purchased the ebook in the past 7-10 days since it was released. I am truly blown away by the response.I have a further ebook project on the go at the moment which should prove of interest to those who digg strong, practical commercial card magic. Have a great weekend John P.s To get a feel for the kind of performance material in my ebook and the follow up, the first 20 people to pm me will get a free card effect based on two classics of card conjuring. |
