At the moment I have three effects where I bestow a volunteer with a photo memory and give them astounding proof of their awesome abilities. My question is- I'm looking for a way to prove my photo memory too. Ideally I would like to 'memorise' a shuffled deck have spectator think of any card and I say that's card number 23. The 13 steps photo memory is cool altho the spec names a number, st***s are kind of ok. And of course I don't want to jumble my brains by memorising a whole deck every time. Impromptu version would be great. PM's of course and as little sarcasm as possible Thank you. Machina

Look up Barrie Richardson's ACAAN and you'll be able to make it look like the idea you have. Basically, they would shuffle a deck of cards, you study the cards then they call out a number, like 22, and you say the card that falls there is Queen of Clubs. The cards are counted slowly and when the number 22 comes up that card is turned around and it's the Queen of Clubs.
I'm assuming you could probably reverse the way you do any ACAAN to make it seem like a memorized deck idea. Greg

Luke Jermay has a version (Bigger Three/Penguin Download see: Memoria)but it's not a 'thought of card' and again suffers from what you're not looking for. It's incredibly easy and is almost child's play.
I also have a version (Triangle, "Rain King" along with an over-the-phone version in Heptagon +, "Memory Prison") and it's also impromptu using any shuffled deck of cards. In this version the spectator also names a number and you name the card at its position. Why not simply force a card as the "thought of card" and then position it at your location of choice? PM me for details on how I'd handle it. -PGR |

I have an effect in my own book, Hybrid Mentalism (avaliable again soon) which uses Photo Memory and a coupe of other things to show that you have aparently memorised a deck... and then give the participant this 'power'.
Deck is unmarked and can be freely suffled.

I read a very nice effect, if I'm not mistaken it was in on of Annemann's books. Basically two spectators choose a card each, they shuffle them back into the deck, and you then count the cards face up onto the table. They remember the number their card fell at, and when they tell you the number, you name their card. Of course you dress it up as if you are memorizing the deck as you count through.
If you're going to make it to Tuesday's meeting, I'll show it to you there |

Looch, I have SAD and intuitive is awesome. It has a you know what that I would prefer not to use. Unless of course I am overlooking something? Greg, thank you, I will look for Barries ACAAN, if it can be changed. The one I use is very hands off and I don't think it can be reversed. Alexander, yours sounds like it's what I'm looking for and Patrick I have had my eye on your work for some time and definitely going to be making a copy of heptagon mine soon I also pm'd you. Alex, won't see you on Tue I have used my hypnotic powers to have a beautiful blonde take me out

Pit's routine is impromptu. Unless we've read different books!
Thanks Machina, I look forward to hearing your thoughts. |

No actual memorized deck?
Mix it with some false cuts and a zarrow - or a deck switch and you're all set to do any kind of memory demonstration with cards. Obviously not the easiest thing to do, but if my dull self can learn it (took me about a week of rather scatterbrained efforts with Tamariz's book, probably only 8 hours or so of actual work) I think any budding mentalist can.
