As someone who has known Stine (though not well) for quite a while, I'd just like to state that he's being EXCESSIVELY modest here. Yes, he's a comic now, but I've seen him show up at local magic rings and dust off the chops and CRUSH people with Phoenix Aces or some unpublished Malini. I don't care how much you call yourself an EX-magician, brudda, you still got dem KILLER chops. He also loves the art, loves talking theory, and respects the tradition to the HILT. He may not be well-known on the Café, but Stine is absolutely a pro's pro. He's a guy who can and has made a living at not one but two performing arts, and it's magic's loss that he prefers comedy; if he DIDN'T, then believe me, everyone posting here would know who he is.

lobowolfxxx, Don't know who you are, but that was mighty kind of you. I have actually been PM'd by James Coats who inquired about filming the Ravel routine then doing a DVD version of "Theatrical Pickpocketing". Anybody out there think there would be interest in THAT? stine

Stine -
I'm Ken's old friend from the Shenanigan's days. I was down there Tuesday with Greg(ory), CharlieC, and the rest. It was good to see you again.

Hope I didn't offend you. I didn't know your undercover name. I'll have to think about the "Theatrical Pickpocketing" DVD concept. First I would have to take time from touring and also I would want to do it justice. Giving Ravel's routine plus other inside stuff. There didn't use to be so much interest in pickpocketing but with the Coats project out and apparently a new one on the way, I wouldn't want to glut the market. BUT, seeing as this WOULD be a routine plus technique maybe it would fly?
P.S. Hope I wasn't too hard on Greg Wilson. Remember, when I first met him he was a waiter AFRAID to work professionaly. He's got the goods so I LOVE messing with him!!:)What are friends for??? |

One more DVD on my list to get. It certainly sounds like a great DVD to have.

I'm drawing this thread back up from the dead because I was rewatching this dvd and am floored by Byrd's wallet steal while wearing the straight jacket.
has this been released yet?

It was his last because he left magic and became an undercover drug dealer. He had been working with the police for a while, teaching them about common pickpockets and how to feel for drugs in peoples pockets without actually going into them. So he felt that magic wouldn't really give him the accomplished feeling that being a cop would. |

I was going to post my detailed review which was in my pocket but someone stole it.
