There are several very good ones out there. Everyone has their own expertise. It also depends on your budget.
Bill Smith, John Gaughan, Wellington, Dan Woolfe, Owens, Bruce Chadwick, and so many others. I would be happy to email you personally if you give me a little more direction. Please do check the discussions on this and other forums about which guys to stay away from. Richard

It really depends on what illusion your having built, that's the first place to start like Richard said. What you have to spend is another thing to consider .. many of today's most popular illusions run well over $6,500.00.
Location is another factor, the prop needs to be shipped or picked up. Sometimes you even need to try things out and visit the shop. It all adds up. On the east coast you've got Wellington Enterprises in Garnerville, New York. Bill is one of the very best builders and great to work with. I would start there if I were you. Steve |

Did you know that PMZZ was started by illusion builders? Google PMZZ and DMV with magic. You may be surprised where the links take you.

I am an Illusion Builder. I have owned and operated White Magic Mfg. for over 25 years. We are way behind on production. We stay as busy as we want. That being said I highly recommend Joe Fairchild. This is his link. http://www.fairchildmagic.com/ Yes, this is one builder recommending another. He is very good!

This is great community other competitors helping others. Keep up the good work everyone. I can recommend all day but I think the best thing is contact all of them get pricing and see what fits your budget. There are a lot of great builders but what are you willing to spend. and what type of illusion you going for cause some builders have the license to build certain illusion that others don't.
I have worked EXTREMELY close with these two builders for many years and many years to come and I recommend them for the quality and price. http://www.dream-illusions.com http://www.masterofillusions.ca Best in your venture.

Don't forget EDF Magic in Los Angeles. They build top quality props and are excellent to work with.

I'm kind of surprised no one has mentioned Willie Kennedy. I have always fallen in love with every prop of his I've worked with. He knows how to built for the road, and as Doug Henning's Head Illusion Engineer for many years, he has the practical experience to built props that WORK!

Willie's been slammed slammed lately / hard to nail down as far as time goes. He's the best in the biz but very very busy. Might be why he had not been mentioned. I second EDF, the guys down there are fantastic / Very down to earth and approachable and can build just about anything you throw at them.

I have to add Thom Rubino in Las Vegas to the list. He's built custom illusions for most of the big acts and regularly builds complex props for Cirque du Soleil.

I just picked up a custom Modern Art from George Richbark this past weekend. He's located in/around central Illinois.
I had already heard positive comments about his work but must add that the workmanship exceeded my expectations. The prop is beautiful, solid, and works flawlessly. I know he is also the builder of the Simplex Head Chopper which I understand works quite well. During our conversations, it's clear that he's well versed in illusions having worked with other reputable builders and then branching out on his own. Definitely worth checking out. Carrington |

Dear members,
I highly recommend Craig Dickens and Willie Kennedy. Both are specialized in different areas. Willie has built three illusions for me and Craig five. Both have a different approach and deliver wonderful props. Having been a performer, Craig ususally tends to get involved in the creative process and often gives great suggestions, thus improving the illusion in one way or another. Regards, D |
