Hey guys,
Recently I've been doing a routine with the BCS, whereby I divine the person's card through reading their pulse. However, I've noticed that on some occasions I've found that their pulse is actually a huge tell. Now there's a possibility that their pulse is speeding up because I'm slowly getting closer to their card, however, I've come across certain scenarios where their pulse picks up rapidly when I begin to say it's suit out loud or even if it's a picture or number card. Such as tonight, when I said the suit of a guy's card aloud, his pulse literally started pounding, and actually picked up even more the further the effect went/closer I got. It was as much as a surprise to me as it was to him. So, my question is, have you guys ever experienced a situation whereby your false methods could indeed have been your true methods? I find such occurances much like practicing the classic force, whereby you slowly get a feel for what you're doing, and even if you miss, you've a back up plan. Phil

Probably it has to do with Contact Mindreading (ideomotor response)

I did a similar revelation where I started saying the names of card values and watched intently at a spectator's face. 4/5 spectators I may have been able to actually read because when I named their card they either stopped smiling or stopped moving their eyes.
Could of been luck though. CW

Approaches like this are actually pretty common. Look at Barrie Richardson's work for an example where contact minding reading isn't even mentioned in the blurb.
There are a few situations when you need to be wary, though. These sorts of things are becoming more and more common at team building seminars by people who buy in a little too much into the whole "Blink", "Tipping Point" worldview ("trusting your intuition, blah blah blah"). Think of a finger, I'll tell you which one. Put this in an envelope, I'll tell you which one. I was a bit upset when I first heard about it but less so when I saw it in practice. It was like a youtube video where somebody who doesn't understand a trick is trying to explain it, anybody it hurts shouldn't be performing this type of stuff anyway. |

I've noticed it and I usually rely on it so much so that it is very rare that I use a forced card. I find that it works stronger on women than men.
I also remember one time when I used it and ...omg...I couldn't find a pulse. To which I made a small vampire remark which caused some laughter and brought the pulse a bit moe stronger. The somewhat ironic part of that was I was still living in New Orleans at the time and the Anne rice novels were all the rage.
Peace

Cheers Slim!
In the short time since I posted this thread I've been trying out the principle further, and in some cases I actually merely get people to think of the card, no force and have a direct hit about three out of five people. Usually the rest I'm either off by the suit or off by one or two cards. I've found that taking a person's pulse not only gives you a huge amount of information, it's great cover for looking concentrated on just their pulse alone but still getting a tonne of information from their facial expressions and body language in my peripheral vision. It's definitely something I'll be doing from now on. I'm definitely only scratching the surface!
