I would second Looch's suggestion of considering Dial-A-Bolical.
Personality opinions aside (on the character's presentation), it provides an alternative methodology to HPN, Richardson, et al. |

Richard Osterlind does an excellent rendition of Danny Tongs Telephone Book test.
It works both on close-up and on stage presentation. This is an extreamly simple effect to set up and to perform, technically that it. The staging and presentation is what, imo, carries the day. |
