OK....I know this is a little weird.....be patient with me:
I recently obtained from a friend (another magician) what is essentially an enormous dump box.....it's rectangular (measuring about 34 inches in length).....it's the kind of thing I've seen clowns using when doing balloons at a big all-day festival. The frame is welded aluminum and nothing about the frame's skeleton is adjustable. The "box" is really a huge cloth bag....and there's a non-descript shelf that sits beneath the bag. I won't bore you with details, but using MDF, I'm going to totally remove the bag and create a dump box at one end and a standard table (with rear-loading shelves) at the other end. To screw into aluminum bracing what kinds of screws do you use?? Sheet metal screws? I'll post photos as I go along. Paul B.
His face isn't really this long in-person!

Hi Paul,
Yep, you've got the idea. But the easiest way to screw through the MDF into the aluminum will be to make some pilot holes that are SMALLER than the diameter of the sheet metal screws. Even with self-tapping metal screws it's much easier to get them started with a small pilot hole. Hope that helps!! David
