The podcast features two ladies who proclaim themselves as ethical readers ( I say proclaim themselves because I have no evidence if they are or not). There perspective on mentalism and what mentalists do to clients looking for genuine tarot work is interesting.
How many readers on these pages would fall into the bracket of those described in the podcast using CR techniques and systems. People on these pages cast so much shame on the psychics and the readers, it is interesting to hear the perspective from the other side of the fence for once. In this podcast many so called "mentalists" are focused on as negatively influencing their clients. I know for certain there are many here who "read" tarot and use the techniques the two ladies discuss. This in my opinion is far more damaging than the true readers who are trying to help their clients. How many on these boards simply will pick up a deck of tarot to "prove how clever" they are, or how many "hits" they can make on the subject? J

Negative leaves a lasting impression and can do damage. Why make the experience negative for a client? Some do not understand the power of such things. Thanks for sharing your link. |

The point here is that resorting to trickery to perform a reading is damaging to the client...

I don't know how many people on these pages fall into her categories, but I know some who do not. We had a thread on these issues (several in fact) just a week or 2 ago. It is pretty obvious as to what material she is looking at when she uses Ray Hyman’s list as a guide and comments about mentalist and skeptics having a lot of crossover, and refers to readings being identified as "a scam" in these books, and the sitters as "marks". Her definition for "Cold Reading" (as used by mentalists) is almost lifted directly from one of the books that is mentioned on the mentalism forums as being one of the best books. This has been talked about for months on another forum… I’m also good enough of a reader to know why this thread was started and who it was pointed at. If you have an issue with someone, take it private. Tony |

I haven't listened to the podcast as of yet but I was recently featured on a radio show TRUTH BEYOND REALITY.
The medium/hostess there said we (Jim Callahan had just called in) were giving Mediums a bad name. This was before we were able to explain "OUR" position and not the "Mediums cheat you by doing cold reading" discussed by so many here on the Café. By the end of the show all was good and I've been invited back! I will listen tomorrow! Thanks Slim King

Jay, personal thanks for the link, very thoughtful and worth a read. I enjoyed Ms Greer's thoughts and found a lot of bridges in that article, for all of us.
